rains. we do have wind advisories across portions of california, nevada and northern portions of the rockies where we can see wind gusts between 50-70 miles an hour. those conditions are very dangerous, not just the flooding and snow but strong winds. flooding across northern california and southern portions of oregon where we are talking about several inches falling today. we're expecting another storm as we head into tomorrow. we do have basically drier conditions across northern california. that will be the story for monday. next storm on tuesday will be taking more of a northerly track. portions of oregon will begin with the heaviest. northern parts of california and expecting heavy mountain snow. over a foot in some of the higher elevations of sierra. so i do want to bring you to the northeast because we're going to have to deal with some rain showers, nothing like california but heavier downpours in portions of upstate new york. >> gregg: maria, thanks very much. >> heather: holiday cheer in short supply on wall street. this is no ordinary year for stocks. >> gregg: diff

series of storms to sweep through northern california is here. we have live team storm coverage. let's begin with our meteorologist lisa argen who is tracking the storm will live doppler 7 hd. >> good morning, everyone. your eye goes right to the red and this is where it is draped from the sacramento valley back to clear lake and windsor and santa rosa. the back edge has been pushing through ukiah and with it the very gusty winds preceding the gusts. we have wind gusts up to 51 miles an hour at the airport, 38 miles an hour winds from hayward. a little lighter but still at the higher elevations you are seeing 63 miles an hour wind gusts down to about 2,000 feet down in the south bay. here's the north bay. look at the heavy rain from richmond, martinez and berkeley, now pushing into the east bay. and 580 and back westward. 280 in san francisco. not only looking it he rain but gusty winds. lighter rains into fremont and union city and the south bay. this will all continue to increase throughout the day. the first half of the day looking much, much different than the second half. caroly

the insanity of 7:00 or 8:00 this morning to nice and calm. that's why we live here. northern california weather is often very sunny. we had it and we are mainly clear outside. here is a look at south bay. the santa clara bay valley. and another view, the bay bridge from on top of our building here, cbs 5. it is a nice evening outside. oakland sitting at 60. livermore 56. no rain in san jose, 58 in santa rosa down to 53. here is where we are going tonight. dropping down to the 40s. fairfield 46. concord 46. redwood city and fremont 47. san francisco dropping down to 51 degrees. this is what i wanted to show you for about five days but haven't had the chance. cbs 5 high def doppler is dry and will stay that way until wednesday. here is how much rain fell. in the north bay mountains, i can't believe this, they had 6- 14 inches of rain over five days. sonoma county had 5-9 inches of rain. on the peninsula, including san francisco, 3-6 inches of rain. inland along the 680 corridor and the east bay, you also had 3-6 inches of rain but it is done. it is finished. there is no round four. here i

's getting steered. right into northern california. it's called the pineapple express. are hawaii to here, round three. we'll get one on sunday. round three, the final round is just about here. after midnight we're all going to get very wet. several inches of rainfall for the north bay. anywhere from 1 to 2.5 inches of rainfall in and around the bay area. future cast, we get new information every hour. an inch and a half for santa cruz. inch and a half for redwood city. nearly two inches more in san rafel. nearly 2 inches of new rainfall by tomorrow evening. with the ground saturated we will see more urban flooding tomorrow than we did friday. less of an impact. still out there tomorrow. moving in tonight, it'll be a soaker. especially tomorrow morning. tomorrow afternoon, got a little bit of a break. actually get a big bit of a break. that's the last round. it'll be out of here by tomorrow afternoon. highs will be mild. might not have a chance to enjoy. it'll be wet as well. averages around 60. mountain view 63. campbell 63 degrees. very wet tomorrow morning. mid60s for pleasant hill. ri

of december. jacket weather out there. if you are doing any traveling around northern california for the most part, staying dry. tahoe, a great day to head up and hit the slopes. no chain requirements on interstate 80 or highway 50. yosemite, cloudy skies there, plenty of sunshine. monday, a chance of showers is possible into the afternoon and evening. tuesday, we clear out, we see plenty of sunshine for the first day of the new year. then, by wednesday. things look a little unsettled. we could see a chance of rain wednesday afternoon into thursday morning. mainly north of the golden gate. friday into saturday looks okay. but then saturday into sunday we could get hit with another little bit of wet weather into sunday morning. so, getting a quick check of the new year's eve forecast. planning on viewing the fireworks in san francisco. we are expecting good viewing conditions, midnight, though, it will get cold, 45 degrees. ann, back to you. >>> elizabeth, thank you. >>> a close call for drivers on a moscow freeway. the amazing pictures as a passenger jet crashes into the freeway overpass. >>

for that part of the region and some more snow expected, a good portion of northern california if you are taking interstate 5 up through shasta, be extra careful. there is a chance we could have some freeway closures. look at this winter storm warning out towards the sierra. snowfall 2 to 5 feet. that's a lot of snow and that could cause some problems on the roadway as we head into friday, saturday and sunday. here's our forecast model for today. we're starting out dry an increase in the high clouds. we do bring in a chance for rain showers up in the north bay. you will notice the south bay's still dry but then into early friday morning we're tracking rain clouds. we'll have wet pavement to start out our can friday morning commute. for today, increasing clouds, the chance of a shower up in the north bay, especially toward the latter portion of the afternoon. a pretty active forecast, some rain and wind, tapering off into the afternoon. a second storm producing heavier rain. saturday morning and possibly a third one into sunday as well. have to keep an eye on the rivers and the streams out there

crab fishermen in northern california will have to wait a little bit longer to set their traps again. for the third time the department of fish and game delayed the opening of dungenese crab season. they delayed the opening because tests show the crabs body weight is less than 25% meat. the season was set to start december 31st. fish and game says the opening date cannot be delayed beyond january 15th. >>> bay area air quality officials are asking residents not to burn wood in their fireplaces or wood stoving tonight and tomorrow. they have not declared spare the air days however there are concerns that as the weather clears the wood smoke could cause smoke pollution to build up throughout the bay area. >>> volunteers were busy this morning in san francisco collecting food for those in need. >> two more hams. >> yay. >> reporter: this woman braved the rain to help collect hams for the st. anthony foundation for the annual christmas dinner. st.anthony's is trying to collect 4,000 hams for the people expected on christmas day. the economic situation has made the need everyone greater t
